Many modern diesel engines found in 4WDs are fitted with turbochargers, offering improved performance and economy compared to older naturally-aspirated diesel engines. To avoid damage to the turbocharger, it should be allowed to cool down at idle speeds for a short period after anything more than a short drive. Fitting a Turbo Timer to your vehicle ensures that every time the vehicles igition is switched off, the engine is allowed to run at idle for a brief period, allowing the Turbocharger to cool down.

The timer can be switched between cool-down intervals from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, and has an immediate shutdown override feature.
